A burner twitter account is an account made by a person, usually famous, in which he or she does not use their real name nor do they intend to let anyone on the internet know who they are in reality. These accounts very often are linked to the National Basketball Association (NBA).

In recent fire, Philadelphia 76ers owner, Bryan Colangelo, has been caught up in some drama. He is currently being accused of using five different burner accounts that he uses to bash his players and management. The newspaper “The Ringer” did an all out investigation where they figured out that five different accounts who were all tweeting about the 76ers and followed the same accounts. When “The Ringer” called up the 76ers and asked about the accounts, one was claimed, b
ut the other four were denied of having any connection to Colangelo. Shortly after this, all five accounts were turned to private and many tweets were deleted via The Ringer. He included tweets like: “I feel it in my bones, deal was done and Jah [former 76ers player Jahlil Okafor] did not pass physical. Let’s wait and see. Only possibility at this point” and “yes I want [Nerlens] Noel over Jah, Jah has a bad knee but class act. Noel is a selfish punk.” via CBSSports from Colengelo’s former twitter account named “AlVic40117560.”

There’s a curtain trust between management, players, and coaches. If anyone has a problem with anyone, it is dealt with behind closed doors. Colangelo failed his organization. When he had a problem with one of his players’ attitude, he didn’t go to them. Instead he went to the whole world and let everyone know exactly what was going on behind closed doors. This is less of an issue of him speaking crudely about his players, it’s more about him leaking what should be a private conversation between two people within the organization, not random NBA fans on Twitter.

“He [Joel Embiid] is making me love Simmons more and more. Joel is having an ego crisis. This team is going to be Ben’s, Joel is acting up.” To bring light to this tweet, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are two young superstars hoping to bring multiple championship banners to the Philadelphia 76ers in the near future. Under any circumstances, it is utterly unacceptable to pin one against the other especially in the public eye. Although it’s unacceptable, it is a bit understandable. Just imagine you in Colangelo’s shoes with all of these strong opinions but no one to share with.

In conclusion, I’m not pardoning his actions, just giving some reasoning as to why someone so smart would commit such an idiotic act.
